Are You Thinking About Suicide? written by "Janice L. Ezelle"

Not long ago someone, who had been in preparations of doing an article, asked me how would I express the love of Christ to those who are in pain and hurting today; and this is how I answered...

Regarding your article preference, there is indeed many in the world today hurting. In fact, I'm in process of creating a website for those "who wish to kill themselves". If any of us have such irrational feelings or thoughts, or the desire to rid, or think less of ourselves, we must come to know that we must first love ourselves before we're capable of loving others.

Many of us in the world don't realize how the "spiritual enemy" has a great deal of influence upon our thought life. If we could just let that phrase absorb in our souls a moment, then we can begin to understand why we hurt so easily. According to Scripture, the “spiritual enemy” is out to steal, kill and destroy all of humanity — that includes you and I, my friend (John 10:10). Please let me begin to explain where our root causes of hurt and calamity originates before I answer your question(s).
Again, the spiritual enemy, Satan, the name meaning “the accuser,” is constantly at battle for our thoughts. He will do, say, or try placing anything on our hearts that will encourage us, or others, to act in manners of killing, stealing or destroying if we listen to him (John 10:10; Ephesians 6:12). Why? Because, in every possible way, Satan will thrive on anything that’s bad for our lives, especially where these things can generate death in some way -- death to our joy and happiness; death to our loved ones, or ourselves; death to our finances, or job situations; death to friends, relationships, marriages, or traditional family values, etc; in fact, all of humanity. So what is Satan’s top priority? That would be, death to our souls. How can this be?

Remember, when Satan coaxed Eve into eating the forbidden fruit? The result of it had caused both Adam and Eve spiritual death (separated from God). Adam and Eve amazingly once had dominion, over themselves, and everything around them that God had given them in the Garden of Eden. But by listening to the “father of lies” (Satan), Adam and Eve exchanged their dominion over to temptation. That, my friend, rendered Satan the authority — over humanity and everything else in the entire world — including you and I.

"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23

Friend, are we going to listen to this “father of lies” anymore? God loves you so much. God loves you so much that He sent His own Son down to a cruel Cross so that you will no longer be under Satan’s grasp. Jesus Christ made it possible so that you and I can be reconciled back to God:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16

Even for us as sinners, He:

"...God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8

Would you like to receive salvation, by the way? When you become a child of God, you will have His full protection, unspeakable joy and blessings beyond your wildest dreams!

So back to answering the questions regarding our pains, friend, please don’t listen to Satan anymore. Don’t let him taunt you day and night, mentally trying to tear you down. Satan is the great perverter, an expert at where he’s constantly deceiving us through our thought life, reminding us that we’re failures. But you know what? God doesn’t see us that way. God is the Father of Truth, and He tells us that we are very special in His sight. Every Word that God says about you is the Truth. His promises are real. See how special Christ thinks you are -- listen closely, my friend…

You are God’s child: "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" John 1:12

You are Christ’s friend: "I am the Vine, and you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, then he will bear much fruit; apart from Me, you can do nothing" John 15:5

You (and your sins) have been justified: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" Romans 5:1

You cannot be separated from the love of God: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?...37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" Romans 8:35, 37

Not only have you been bought with a price, and belong to God (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20) but…

You have been redeemed and forgiven for your sins; and have become a citizen of heaven: "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" Colossians 1:14

You have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline" 2 Timothy 1:7

You can find grace and mercy to help in time of need: "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" Hebrews 4:16

You are born of God, and the evil one cannot touch you: "We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him" 1 John 5:18

Friend, God’s Word for you doesn’t stop there, because there’s more. So you see Satan doesn’t want you to listen to God. The father of lies tries to block your effectiveness as God’s child so he can deceive you into believing that you are nothing but a product of your past —subject to sin, prone to failure, and controlled by your habits. Satan is also very good at bringing up our past, bad experiences we’ve had into our minds. He wants you to mend an unforgiving heart toward yourself, or others. But God wants us to forgive everyone; because His Word tells us if we don’t, He’ll not be able to forgive us (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 6:14-15).

Please don’t misread God’s heart and think something like, “Well, how dare He...He doesn’t know how I’ve hurt...He doesn’t understand how he/she hurt me!” Yes, He does, my friend. God’s command isn’t like some strict order to forgive, or He’s inconsiderate of our feelings. It’s that He had rather see the “gnawing” within your heart to be cleared from you. You see, when I finally let go of my hatred and grudges that I once had toward those who hurt me, peace finally dwelled within me. My pains (among all anxiety) went away for good…Let’s look at it this way; if we’re unable to forgive, then we’ll never get to experience real love in life, or be loved. "How can that be when I’ve hurt so much?" It’s because your heart will eventually harden, my friend; it’ll become “crusty”; to the point where everything/everyone around you becomes meaningless. My friend, I know you’ll not want that. Besides, it’s not affecting the one who has hurt you, it no longer matters to them. So please be concerned about your heart — let this irrational feeling go so your wounds can finally be healed.

Satan also wants you to die without God. He wants you to turn against God through an action by taking your own life, (or another life, or to be bitter and hold resentment toward others), or commit some sort of sin, period. Through these actions, Satan is determined to turn you from the One, Who has offered you life — the life here, and the eternal life.

Here are few Scriptural references regarding Satan (the devil):

Father of lies - John 8:44
Ruler of this world - John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11
Acts as an angel of light - 2 Corinthians 11:14
Prince of the power of the air – Ephesians 2:2
Abaddon - Revelation 9:11 (Notice the word bad in his name -- A(bad)don?)
The deceiver of the world - Revelation 12:9

So if you can absorb what’s going on around you, beneath the unseen forces, you’ll be able to sense why bad things, through others, or unwanted circumstances, arises upon us. For example, let us listen to the plea of a hurt lady, who was being deceived, then tried unsuccessfully to take her life (Letter Source: "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil T. Anderson):

"Dear God,

Where are you? How can you watch and not help me? I hurt so bad, and you don’t even care. If you cared you’d make it stop or let me die. I love you, but you seem so far away. I can’t hear you or feel you or see you, but I’m supposed to believe you’re here. Lord, I feel them and hear them. They are here. I know you’re real, God, but they are more real to me right now. Please make someone believe me, Lord. Why won’t you make it stop? Please, Lord, please! If you love me you’ll let me die.

~ A Lost Sheep"

But after the lady finally came to realize her deception to Satan’s mental torment and the depth to the truth of God’s love for her, she sensed God’s leading to write this (Letter source: "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil T. Anderson):

"My Dear Lost Sheep,

You ask Me where I am. My child, I am with you and I always will be. You are weak, but in Me you are strong. I love you so much that I can’t let you die. I am so close that I feel everything you feel.

I know what you are going through, for I am going through it with you. But I have set you free and you must stand firm. You do not need to die physically for my enemies to be gone, but be crucified with Me and I will live in you, and you shall live with Me. I will direct you in paths of righteousness. My child, I love you and I will never forsake you, for you are truly mine.

~ Love, God"

My friend, I know that life is not perfect. And it’s never going to be. Not in this lifetime will we see everything go well all the time. That’s because, as we have learned, that through Adam and Eve, life and everything in it, has become the byproduct of sin, which resulted with imperfection within the world. "...BY ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, AND DEATH BY SIN; AND SO DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN, FOR THAT ALL HAVE SINNED" (Romans 5:12).

You see, we once had God’s perfection, where problems, the hurt, tears or pain would not have existed to begin with. But when Satan intercepted, life and everything in it, then became tainted, and given unto evil authority. I know at times, life may seem unbearable for many of us, but friend, if you’ll place your faith and trust in God, He will provide a way for you. I’m not saying that our troubles will fully go away, but through God’s help, we can be strengthened. Besides, sometimes some of our problems may lead us to God’s specific plan (This, Satan does not want to see!) That, my friend, will eventually bring amazing results to our lives; and it’s during those times that we can receive joy, and shout thanksgiving and praises to Him (God) for those miraculous results.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

My friend, there is no other love such as the one Jesus Christ committed for us upon the Cross. Jesus’ unconditional love was/is beyond our own understanding because He willingly laid down His life for us. Your life -- you -- are so precious in God’s sight. He assures us that He'll never leave nor forsake us. Please don’t let your -- actually His -- sacred temple slip from God’s glory without accepting His free offer of salvation through His Son, Jesus. He loves you sooo much! So if you haven’t already, please embrace Christ’s wonderful claim over you, by letting Him adopt you into His family today. How? By receiving salvation today. When you do that, you’ll not only be able to overcome your hurts, and tackle all other obstacles along your path, but have greater love (and be loved in return!) that you thought would have never been possible!

If you would like to receive Christ today, please pray this prayer:

"Heavenly Father, I ask Thee to fogive me of all my sins. I want to receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Saviour. I thank Thee for what Jesus has done for me at Calvary so that I may become Your child. Begin to help me to walk in Your way. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Friend, if you've prayed the prayer, please let me know so I can send you some important Bible literature.
