In the United States, the 4 th of July is Independence Day. This is the date we celebrate our countries founding and independence. For Christians, I believe greatly that we have two days each year that represent our independence. Even though the Christmas season is secular to the extent of Santa Clause and gifts, etc, Christmas Day, December 25, is celebrated because of Jesus’ birth and life on this earth. I believe this to be one of the Christian independence days. I also believe Easter Sunday, when secularists celebrate candy and the Easter Bunny, is another Christian independence day. Why this date in April? Well, most Christians, at least here in the United States celebrate Jesus’ rising from the tomb and defeating death on this date.
We as Christians can celebrate our independence from the secular world and from those who mean us harm and who do not believe. Jesus Christ was born, God on earth, living as we do, facing the same challenges we face, and dealing with same worldly pressures we face. He over came these challenges and difficulties in his life and gives us the strength to do the same. Jesus died at the hands of people who hated him and even at the betrayal of some who loved him.
Pastors, preachers, teachers, missionaries and every day people die all over the world as martyrs for their faith and their love and their diligence in spreading the word and love of Jesus Christ to others around the world. We should all celebrate our Christian independence every chance we get. We should take notice of our brother’s and sister’s in Christ who have given their lives so that one might come to know Jesus and have eternal life. Our independence as Christians is very important. Important because others can see what we are by looking at us, hear what we are buy listening to us talk and again see through the actions we show others and the kindness we give to them.
As Christians our independence is very important because one day we may have to stand, with no one else with us but God, Himself, and say they we are proud to be children of God. A day may come when we have to sacrifice ourselves in order to stand for God and for our eternal life and the eternal lives of others around us. Christian independence is important. No matter what we must be willing to show the world that we believe in only one God. Our God has one son, Jesus Christ, who was born a man, lived a life as a man and died and defeated death so that we could live forever. People need to hear it, see it and watch it in us every day.
It is hard to go through life dedicated to one purpose, one thing, one idea, one God and one eternal possibility. It is hard, but we must remember, our eternal life is FACT, not possibility. We owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones and to our friends, colleagues and coworkers to educate them on Jesus Christ and to educate them on the Christian life and the eternal life that is waiting for us and for those who come to receive the salvation offered by trusting in Jesus Christ. We owe it to our families to place salvation above our own. We owe it to God, for giving His son so that we may live eternally.
An eternal life of fire without God and without Jesus Christ will not be one I would like to live through. The eternal life awaiting us for believing and receiving Jesus Christ, that is an eternal life that I would give my earthly life for if I had to or needed to in order for others to live.
As you are reading this I would like to ask that you pray for peace among Christians. The peace of this world is a myth and will never happen until the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please pray for the preachers, pastors, teachers, and others who are spreading the word of God and peace, hope, love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Even though it is dangerous and few make money or get rich doing so, it is the job charged to all Christians by God and there are many doing it. Pray for the families of those who have given their lives and died for the cause of bringing others to know salvation and to God.
If you are reading this and have not yet accepted Jesus Christ into your life, pray now and contact someone immediately to talk to or you can contact someone who can pray with you. At TCSB we want you to make that life changing decision and we want you to know that no matter what you have done in the past, God will forgive you. Come to know him personally and with guidance from someone who truly cares about your eternal life and find a strength and purpose, not only worth living for, but worth giving your life for if you were ever faced with a decision of denying God or dieing for your belief in Him. I know of nothing else as powerful as a belief and faith in God. I pray that you will find this strength.
I and any of the other staff here at TCSB are here for you. If you have any questions, contact someone who can talk with you or pray with you and even if you need someone to pray for you or your family. Support TCSB, your local church, or other ministries. As long as they are spreading the word of God and reaching people for Jesus Christ, they are worth supporting. However, please research groups, ministries and churches that you help support before you begin giving. There are internet scams and people in this world who will abuse your heart and your belief to make money.
Love in Christ,
Sandy Elders.
